How many Expats live in Turkey?

It is difficult to accurately estimate the number of ex-pats living in Turkey, as there is no official data on this population. However, according to estimates by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), there were around 4.430,000 foreign residents in Turkey in 2022.

This number will likely include long-term ex-pats and temporary residents, such as students and tourists.

Most ex-pats living in Turkey come from other European countries, with the largest groups being Germans, British, and Dutch. There are also significant numbers of ex-pats from Arab countries, mainly from Syria and Lebanon.

Expats tend to be concentrated in larger cities, particularly Istanbul, where they can find work and access amenities and services. However, ex-pats live in other parts of the country, including coastal resorts and smaller cities.
