It is difficult to accurately estimate the number of mosques in Turkey, as the country is home to a large and diverse population. There are many small and informal places of worship in addition to formal mosques.

According to official statistics, there are approximately 85,000 mosques in Turkey, a significant number considering the country's population of around 84 million. Mosques in Turkey range in size and design, from small, informal neighbourhood mosques to large, ornately decorated ones that are major tourist attractions.

Many of Turkey's mosques are built in the traditional Ottoman style, with a large central dome, multiple smaller domes, and one or more minarets.

Some of the most famous mosques in Turkey include the Sultan Ahmed Mosque (also known as the Blue Mosque) in Istanbul, the Selimiye Mosque in Edirne, and the Mosque of the Prophet in Medina, Saudi Arabia.
