The first mosque in Turkey is generally considered the Great Mosque of Divriği, built in the 13th century in the town of Divriği in Sivas Province.

The Turkish ruler Ahmet Shah commissioned the mosque built by his chief architect, Hüsamettin. The mosque is an actual example of Seljuk architecture and is known for its ornate stone carvings and intricate decorations. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

It is worth noting that the Seljuk Turks, who ruled over parts of Anatolia (present-day Turkey) in the 11th-13th centuries, built many other notable mosques throughout the region during this time.

These include the Great Mosque of Konya, the Alâeddin Mosque in Kayseri, and the Gümrük Mosque in Sivas, among others.
