Regional and Ethnic Groups in Turkey

Turkey is a diverse country with a rich cultural heritage that reflects the influences of its geography, history, and various ethnic and regional groups.

The largest ethnic group in Turkey is the Turks, who comprise around 70-75% of the population. 

The remainder of the population is made up of several smaller ethnic groups, including Kurds, who make up about 18-20% of the people and are primarily concentrated in the southeast region of the country; Zazas, who are a minority group of Turkish-speaking Kurds; and Arabs, who are focused on the southeast and along the Syrian border.

In addition to these ethnic groups, several regional and linguistic groups in Turkey, including the Laz in the Black Sea region, the Circassians in the northeast, and the Bosniaks in the northwest. There are also significant minority populations of Greeks, Armenians, and Jews, as well as small numbers of other ethnicities.

Despite these ethnic and regional differences, Turkey has a long history of cultural exchange and integration, and the country is known for its rich and diverse cultural traditions.
